Racer Watch Parties for the SEMO game
This season continues to be extremely special for the men's basketball team!!!  With an undefeated record (20-0) and ranked 11th in the AP poll, Racer Nation has erupted!!  We are fast approaching our fourth ESPN game of the season.  On Thursday, Feb. 2nd, the Racers will go up against conference foe SEMO.  This game will be televised on ESPN U at 7 p.m. CST (8 p.m. EST).  Check out our watch party locations!!

MSU @ UT Martin: Let's pack the Skyhawk Arena!!
The Racers are traveling to UT Martin on Saturday, Feb. 4th to take on the Skyhawks.  The women tip-off at 4 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m.  Go Racers!!!!

Shakespeare Festival
Shakespeare Festival, from February 6-11, will feature A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Winter’s Tale, performed by the American Shakespeare Company.  Admission to performances is $5.00 for MSU students, faculty, and staff and children 12 and under.  Admission for the general public is $10.00.  The festival also includes lectures, workshops, a meet-the-actors session, a flash mob, and a film.  A full schedule of events is available at www.murraystate.edu/Shakespeare.

Presidential Lecture presents James Carville and Mary Matalin
The 2012 Murray State University Presidential Lecture Series will feature a duo for the first time this year with political super-couple James Carville and Mary Matalin. Their lecture is aptly named “All’s Fair in Love, War and Politics.”

Their visit to Murray is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m., in Murray State’s Lovett Auditorium. The lecture is free and MSU students, faculty and staff, as well the general public, are encouraged to attend.

MSU @ SEMO: Let's pack the Show Me Center!!!
The Racers are traveling to SEMO on Wednesday, Feb. 15th, 2012 to take on the Redhawks.  The men tip-off @ 7 p.m. (CST).  The MSU Alumni Association will be hosting a Racer party at Buckner Brewing Company  from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (food and drinks will be at your own expense).  GO RACERS!!!

Hilton's Book on Consumer Culture In Russia Published
The University of Pittsburgh Press recently published Dr. Marjorie Hilton’s “Selling to the Masses: Consumer Culture in Russia, 1880 to 1930” as part of the “Pitt Series in Russian and European Studies.” Hilton is an assistant professor of history at Murray State University.

Zackery Heern To Present Papers Globally
Dr. Zackery Heern is one of the newest faculty members to join the MSU history department.  He earned his PhD at the University of Utah.  In a short time, he has dove into academics and the classroom but also finds himself on agenda and schedule tracks in the coming months for many conferences. 

History's Carpenter Receives National Award; Students Present Research
Murray State University’s Xi Lambda chapter of Phi Alpha Theta national history honor society traveled to the organization’s 2012 Biennial Convention this month. Dr. Stephanie Carpenter, associate professor of history at MSU, accompanied six Murray State students to the convention where four students presented their research.

Miles One Of Three From U.S. To Participate In Paris Work Group
Dr. Sandy J. Miles of Murray State University’s College of Business has been selected to be one of the three United States representatives to participate in the work group for carving out international standards on human resource governance as part of the ISO TC260 responsible for the establishment of human resource management standards. The meeting will convene at Eutelsat in Paris, France, in March of this year.

Accelerated MBA Program to Begin At MSU Paducah Regional Campus Fall 2012
Murray State University-Paducah Regional Campus will provide an accelerated master of business administration (MBA) degree program in August 2012. The 18-month program will give students the opportunity to learn more in depth about the nature of business and acquire skills to further expand their educations.
