Rutland receives the Alumni Achievement Award 2014 from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
On October 9, 2014 James "Steve" Rutland of Enterprise, Alabama was presented the Alumni Achievement Award 2014 for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University at the Daytona Beach Campus in Florida.  Selection for this award is based on exceptional commitment to the aviation and aerospace industry through personal and professional success.

Murray Independent School District Finance Officer named 2015 Goldenrod Outstanding Kentucky School Business Official
Sarah Kaegi, Murray Independent School District Finance Officer and a 1987 graduate of  Hardin County High School and a 1991 Murray State University Accounting graduate, was named the 2015 Goldenrod Outstanding Kentucky School Business Official this week. 

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Biotech Week Bellicum Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering and developing novel cellular immunotherapies, announced the appointment of Reid M. Huber, Ph.D. to its Board of Directors.


Kelly Ralls and Frances Grant Fitzgerald: A Lasting Legacy
Education was a firm foundation and family tradition for the Grant and Fitzgerald families. Coming from simple beginnings, where hard work and dedication were instilled at a young age, Kelly and Frances Grant Fitzgerald greatly valued the educations they received, leading them to establish the “Kelly Ralls and Frances Grant Fitzgerald Scholarship” through a planned gift to Murray State. This endowment will assist fulltime students in need with no restrictions as to classification, field of study or particular state of residence. It will also create a lasting legacy of a very special couple.

MURRAY, Ky. — The Murray State University Concert Choir, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra highlight the 11th annual seasonal special, The Holidays at Murray State, a one-hour sojourn in sight and sound on the Murray campus. Three Students Continuing Research Thanks to the Larry D. Pharris Memorial Wildlife Fund
Thanks to a family's devotion to wildlife research the Larry D. Pharris Memorial Wildlife Fund provided three deserving students the opportunity to further conduct research this year.  The Pharris' lifelong commitment to outdoor recreation and wildlife biology continues through an endowed fund established by family and friends in 2000 to support the Wildlife Biology program at MSU.  

Dedication of Hogancamp General Services Building held on campus
Murray State University colleagues, friends and family members of the late Dr. Thomas B. Hogancamp gathered to cut the ribbon for the official dedication of the Hogancamp General Services Building on campus. Hogancamp was an MSU graduate and long-time administrator and professor at the university.

Strategic Planning Initiative underway
Dr. Bob Davies officially launched the strategic planning initiative this week at a Town Hall meeting on Monday, Oct. 10th in Freed Curd Auditorium.

Dr. Bob Davies and family make $117,000 gift to university
Murray State University president, Dr. Bob Davies, along with his wife, Cindy, and their daughter, Katie, made a $117,000 gift to support student scholarships, academic enhancements and other student needs at Murray State. Upon his arrival in July, Dr. Davies was researching the university’s history and learned that university founder, Dr. Rainey T. Wells, raised nearly $117,000 to provide the seed funds to found the university in 1922.

MSU Extends U.S. News Rankings Streak to 24th Consecutive Year
MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State University (MSU) has taken its top rankings streak into its 24th consecutive year of being recognized by U.S.News & World Report’s Best Colleges as one of the top schools in the country. The 2015 rankings have just been released and Murray State is in ninth place among the top public regional universities in the South.
