Reflections

Murray State is blessed to have so many alumni who give back to the world through service.  This page is dedicated to our alumni who know the importance of sharing their own reflections about their civic engagement experiences.

Kim Moody Crouch, '99, Guatemala: The first few days...

'I'm typically not a journaling kind of gal, but everytime we venture to Guatemala, I find myself desperate to remember every little detail while we are there so I don't forget one second of it.  It's so hard to try to explain or to put into words what you experience on these trips...I always fear my words won't do the experience, the people, or their circumstances justice.  I so desperately want people to realize the need and to reach out to help others less fortunate, whether it is with your time, prayers, your finances, etc.' (click here for the full story)

Lori Wheeler, '01, A busy week...

'We are so happy to be working with a team from Georgetown, Kentucky! We were able to meet some members of the team last year when we visited Central Church of God in Georgetown. Others in the group are from North East Christian Church in Lexington, New Life Church in Louisville, and several others. It's great to have this time working with people from home!

The past week we've been working with the team on many different projects. We are continuing the water project which will bring pure water from a nearby stream to the small community of El Gorrion. Families there are thrilled that they will soon have plenty of clean water coming right to their homes.'
