Alumni Association Awards

Each year the Murray State University Alumni Association recognizes many outstanding alumni and friends for their continued commitment to Murray State University.  Such acts of recognition result in bestowing awards to faculty, staff, alumni and students. 

Murray State University Distinguished Alumnus Award

This award established in 1962 acknowledges the service of outstanding alumni who have held responsible positions and made significant contributions to their professions on a national, state and local level.  The Distinguished Alumnus Award is the highest honor granted and honors those who have learned to give of themselves to promote their profession and the interest of their fellow man.  For a complete list of recipients, click here.

Murray State University Golden Horseshoe Award

This award established in 1987 acknowledges the service of dedicated alumni who have held responsible positions and who have through significant and continuing support contributed to the excellence of Murray State University.   For a complete list of recipients, click here.
Murray State University Distinguished Professor

This award established in 1964 acknowledges an outstanding faculty member who has had a profound and positive impact on students.  The Distinguished Professor is awarded in a surprise classroom visit and receives a $1,000 cash award. The honoree also leads the faculty processional at the spring commencement exercises and will have their names added to the Distinguished Professor plaque in Faculty Hall.  In addition, a deserving student is selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship in the recipient's honor.   For a complete list of recipients, click here.

Murray State University Alumni Association Distinguished Reseacher Award

This award established in 2002 acknowledges an outstanding faculty member for their dedication to research.  The award reflects the significance of faculty research to the educational environment at Murray State University.  The Distinguished Researcher receives a $1,000 cash award and will have their names added to the Distinguished Researcher plaque in the Easley Alumni Center.   For a complete list of recipients, click here.
Murray State University Alumni Association Emerging Scholar Award

This award established in 2008 is intended to give special recognition for superior research, scholarly or creative work conducted by Murray State University faculty members who are in the early phase of their careers and who show professional promise.  The Emerging Scholar receives a $1,000 cash award and will have their names added to the Distinguished Researcher plaque in the Easley Alumni Center.   For a complete list of recipients, click here.
