Additionally, Graves County is the number two county and other regional counties contribute significantly to the production of this crop. More
MSU Alumni, David Alexander and Mike Hamilton, were honored for Accounting Scholars Program endowment
Mike Hamilton and David Alexander, alumni of Murray State University, were recently honored at a reception in April at the Regional Special Events Center for their donation to the Accounting Scholars Program endowment in the amount of $300,000. The endowment will allow the Accounting department to designate five top-level students at each class level (freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior) to receive a $1,000 scholarship. More

The Murray State University School of Agriculture will always remember the late Derek Glisson, former MSU agriculture student and outstanding young man. Glisson’s grandfather, Robert Swift of Murray, in memory of Glisson has established the Derek Glisson Memorial Agriculture Scholarship at MSU. Glisson passed away in August of 2007 in a farming accident.More

The Marie Holifield Taylor Piano Scholarship at Murray State University has reached its endowment level and will be awarded for the first time in the spring of 2014. Taylor’s colleague, Dr. Randall Black, MSU professor of music, established the fund in 2008. More
Jim Thomas established the Howie R. Crittenden Men's Basketball Scholarship
Jim Thomas watched Howie Crittenden and the Cuba Cubs fly down the basketball court in 1952 as if they were a team from a school with dozens of state champions hanging from the rafters of their gym. Fifty-eight years later Thomas established the scholarship with an endowment of $50,000 as a way to honor Crittenden's rural upbringing, consummate basketball skills, contributions to the field of education and to assist a men's basketball player at Murry State University in obtaining a college education. Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton Endows Minority Scholarship
The American dream is very much alive from the perspective of Murray State University Board of Regents member Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton (BA ’69 and MA ’71). Thornton, 1987 Murray State Distinguished Alumnus, has recently endowed the “Jerry Sue and John Barlow Pritchett Minority Scholarship” to help students at MSU attain that dream. The scholarship is named in memory of Thornton and her brother, John “Buddy” Pritchett, who both attended MSU; however, Buddy passed away before graduation. More

Nell Hall Vickrey $500,000 estate gift establishes scholarship that will aid students studying math and science at MSU
Murray State University is the recipient of a $500,000 estate gift to establish “The John C. and Nell Hall Vickrey Scholarship” in the MSU college of science, engineering and technology (CSET). Application for the scholarship is open to all students pursuing a major in CSET with preference given to mathematics majors or minors.
