    Taste of the Arts

The arts at Murray State University are a part of our tradition and as you know, we are big on tradition here!  The Department of Art & Design, the Department of Music, and the Department of Theatre all have a tremendous impact upon our service region each year by giving hundreds of concerts, theatre performances, and gallery shows… both here on our campus and around the world. Murray State University’s fine arts programs are some of the best in the country due in part to the incredible support we receive from our alumni and friends.  Currently all three of our fine arts programs (music, art, and theatre) are nationally accredited.  Our students receive an outstanding education as well as practical experience in each of their subject areas.  Murray State talent in the arts is strongly stated first through our nationally recognized faculty and then through our graduates, who leave our University to share their talents as they begin their careers in the arts.

A Taste of the Arts 2014, the sixth annual event hosted by Murray State University in partnership with the College of Humanities & Fine Arts and the Office of Development, is like no other regional event.  A Taste of the Arts Dinner and Auction is a unique and entertaining gala raising much needed support for Murray State student scholarships in the arts.  The event showcases student and faculty performances from woodwinds to guitars to awe-inspiring vocals and monologues, delectable dining, an award to the Outstanding Alumni in the Fine Arts, and unique live and silent auctions with over $20,000 of products, services, and beautiful works of art up for bid.  The event will kick off homecoming weekend and is going to be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 5:30pm in the Murray Room of the CFSB Center on the beautiful campus of Murray State University.  Reservations are required in advance of the event ($65 per person, sponsored tables of 8 guests are also available). All proceeds benefit Murray State student scholarships in Art, Music, and Theatre.  For more information, contact Tina Bernot at 270-809-3250 or cbernot@murraystate.edu.
