RacerMobile App is Free

Staying connected with Murray State University is going to be easier than ever, just by using a mobile device. Android and iPhone owners can now keep Murray State with them wherever they go.

Murray State University now has its own app – RacerMobile. The app is free and is available now in the Android Market or the iPhone app store. To find it, just search using the name, RacerMobile.

“Mobile marketing is a very important medium that allows us another avenue to share information with all of our constituencies,” noted Catherine Sivills, assistant vice president for university communications at MSU. “These mobile applications are just the beginning of a long list of new and improved ways to reach people and with more than 4.5 billion people worldwide using mobile devices, we need to have a presence that is up-to-date and dynamic.”

With the new RacerMobile app users can stay on top of important MSU information, including all Murray State social media such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. Additionally, users can use Facebook Connect to share important information and events with friends.

App features include the ability to browse current YouTube videos from MSU and the university’s Roundabout U television show. Favorite articles or calendar events can be shared using email, Twitter or Facebook, and users can save information by creating a “favorites” list. Also, RacerMobile allows for a search using keywords or topics and enables Android and iPhone owners to connect with other users through Google Maps.

“The new RacerMobile app is just another way we have to reach our alumni in the fast-paced world of technology,” said Dana Howard, coordinator for alumni communications at Murray State. “Our alumni are technology savvy and we are always looking for the next level of communication to keep them connected to the university. We are proud to present this new communications medium to them.”
