Scholarship established in memory of Thomas McGurk, MSU student-athlete

Date: 7/12/2012 A scholarship has been established at Murray State University in memory of the late Thomas McGurk, who was a freshman at Murray State at the time of his death. The 18-year-old student from Medina, Ohio, was attending school through a baseball scholarship when a traffic accident claimed his life in October 2010.

Wilder Endowment Fund Established for School of Nursing Faculty

Date: 5/23/2012 The Wilder Endowment Fund for Excellence in Nursing was established for the purpose of assisting faculty and staff in the Murray State University nursing department. Created by Cols. (Ret.) William “Bill” Morris Wilder and Barbara Hughes Wilder, the fund is used for travel, internships, equipment, seminars and other needs as determined by the dean of the school of nursing and faculty representatives.

Farm Credit Services of Mid-America donates $12,250 to Richie McClerkin Memorial Agriculture Scholarship

Vice President Jim Carter and Associate Vice President Bob Jackson, executors of Riddle’s estate, presented Riddle’s bequest to David Balthrop, chair of the department of theatre. Riddle, a 1942 graduate from Fulton, Ky., resided in the Motion Picture Retirement Home in Woodland Hills, Calif., where he passed away from an extended illness in 2009 at the age of 91.

Dill is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of LifePoint Hosptials based out of Nashville. The reception and dinner at Pogue Library included Dill’s wife, Ashley, children, Evanne and Watson, and parents Mike and Marilyn Dill. MSU President, Dr. Randy Dunn thanked the couple for their commitment to MSU. Chair of Accounting, Dr. Don Chamberlain explained what the professorship meant to the department and announced that the search to fill the professorship position has already begun.
